How To Pray For Us
Our missionaries are incredible people. But their success is only possible by the power of God and the prayers of the faithful.
Missions work is tough! Whether they’re operating inside limited-access countries, living in remote lands, or serving in bustling mega-cities, missionaries need your prayers to help them accomplish God’s work, and stay energized and encouraged.
Will you commit to pray with us for our missionaries?
PRAY SPECIFICALLY
God wants us to be specific in our prayers so we can be specific in our praises. We have a few resources to help you stay connected to missionaries as you look for ways to specifically pray for them and their ministries.
- Support a missionary and you’ll automatically start receiving their prayer letters. These are great tools to help keep you up to date on their specific needs, challenges, and lives. It’s amazing to come alongside them when they cry out for help in one prayer letter, and read how God answered them in their next prayer letter — thanks in part to your partnership and prayer!
- You can also tune into specific needs is through our award-winning quarterly magazine, Message. It’s a great way to watch the gospel at work through our missionaries – and to come alongside that work as a prayer partner.
- Finally, follow us on social media to get up-to-date prayer requests and praises in real-time.
PRAY BIBLICALLY
The Bible contains some of the best models of prayer ever recorded. Just a few of the great prayers we can pray for our missionaries include:
“… Oh Lord, I pray, please let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who desire to fear Your name; and let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy …”
NEHEMIAH 1: 3 — 11
“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
COLOSSIANS 4: 2 — 3
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.”
2 THESSALONIANS 3: 1—5
As you read the Bible, ask the Holy Spirit guide you to specific scriptures your missionaries need to be prayed. Remember: missionaries live by prayer!
PRAY CONSISTENTLY
The Bible tells us to be persistent in our prayer life. Missionaries face incredible challenges, but nothing that can’t be overcome by the power of God. Don’t give up praying for them! Incorporate missionaries’ needs from their prayer letters, Message, and social media as part of your regular Bible studies and Sunday school classes — and then watch our amazing God go to work and bring His love to the ends of the earth.
