Argentina and ABWE Canada

“So many have come to Christ that I don’t have enough people to disciple them.” —Argentinian Pastor Santander

The Spiritual Need in Argentina

Argentina is struggling both financially and socially. In urban areas, 80 percent of the children grow up without fathers, drug use is rampant, families are broken, marriage is rare, and in many neighborhoods, open sewage runs down the side of streets.

Pessimism runs high, and many are looking for hope. It seems that everyone is telling the Argentines how they can have a better life— from the government to mystical religions to schools — but almost no one explains how to have a renovation of the soul through Jesus. Argentines are desperate for spiritual awaking, but have very few people teaching them the word of God. There is a desperate need for evangelists and disciplers to share the hope of Jesus Christ.

ABWE Canada in Argentina

More than 30 years ago, a young Argentine man named Eduardo sat listening to the teaching of ABWE Canada missionary church-planter Jim Evans. Eduardo caught his vision for evangelism, discipleship, and church multiplication, and over the last 30 years, 22 churches have sprouted. Each and every church is dedicated to spreading the word of God to every home in its neighborhood. Their ministry is exploding, and one young pastor told us “so many have come to Christ that I don’t have enough people to disciple them.” ABWE Canada and our missionaries are coming alongside these “home-grown” Argentine churches to help them multiply even further.

Almost none of the churches have sent missionaries overseas because they simply don’t know how. The churches are young and have no experience. ABWE Canada is looking for experienced missionary administrators who can teach the churches how to identify, train, and send missionaries. Dozens of believers here have a desire to serve the Lord in missions, and they just need someone to show them how.

Several churches have been invited by communities to begin private schools in poor areas. There is a huge open door to impact entire communities for Christ, but once again, the young Argentine churches have little or no experience in organizing and running a private Christian school. We need missionaries to help them.

ABWE Canada also has opportunities right now to teach young men in a new Pastor Training Center located in Buenos Aires. ABWE Canada missionaries have been invited to invest in the lives of future pastors and missionaries, and we need teachers.

Argentina is rich with opportunities for missionaries, and we need people like you that are passionate about sharing the love of Christ with the people of Argentina.
